Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. A few years later, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was named chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. She covered many notable reports, including weapons control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended many summits with the help of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
